Kat and Val are friends with a passion for healthy eating and female health. After experiencing menopausal and peri-menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, weight gain they wanted to try and avoid conventional treatments and opt for more natural solutions to these symptoms. They have a real understanding and empathy for helping to support women during this time using natural diet and lifestyle changes.
Kat and Val are based in Sevenoaks, Kent and met in the gym. Their love of talking about food, nutrition and swapping recipes led them to setting up The Health Boost. Their mission is simple – getting the whole family to eat healthily and get active. Both in their 50s, they want to debunk the myth that eating healthily is only the reserve of the skinny 20-something with no children. Between them they have 5 children (and a dog) ranging in age from 16 to 23, so they are well aware of the fussy eating toddler years, the peer pressure of the teenage years, the difficulty with eating healthy on a budget at Uni and every fad in between. They believe passionately in the power of eating well and staying active to support overall health and want everyone to embrace a healthy lifestyle through small consistent habit changes– even time poor busy families! They love to cook with seasonal wholefoods and choose organic or local where possible. They also understand that busy women don’t have time to spend hours in the kitchen and so most of their recipes are quick and simple as well as being delicious and healthy. They are both very organised and so love sharing quick tips for kitchen organisation and planning ahead to make staying on track easy.
If you are a busy mum, empty nester and want genuine support, understanding and advice then you’ve come to the right place - welcome!

Kat has always loved food and cooking. Her mother was a keen cook and she spent a lot of the time in the kitchen as a child – she even cooked her first Christmas lunch at the age of 12. After university Kat did a summer cooking course at Leith’s School of Food and Wine and every year her vast cookbook collection multiplies. In 2014 Kat enrolled at The College of Naturopathic Medicine to study Naturopathic Nutrition. She qualified in the summer of 2017 and now practises in her home town of Sevenoaks, Kent. Her love of cooking and feeding her family nutritious and tasty meals continues. She specialises in helping clients to lose weight without dieting and in supporting hormonal issues with a personalised approach. She can empathise with painful periods, menopause symptoms and difficulty in losing weight. She never wants her clients to feel deprived of food when they come to her - she believes that food should make you feel good and nourish your body - the word diet is banished!

Val was born in Burgundy, France and lived in France until the age of 27. She grew up in a culture and environment where food is varied, enjoyed, and shared with the whole family. On moving from Paris to London in 1996 she was shocked to see her work colleagues in The City eating sandwich lunches over their keyboards, a complete contrast to the more Mediterranean way of stopping for lunch. Val has always eaten healthily and sport has played a large part in her life. In 2017 she decided to follow her passion for health and exercise. She is now a Qualified L3 Personal Trainer based in Sevenoaks, Kent and has a special interest in women’s health, strength training, menopause and fitness at all ages. She specialises in helping women find mental & physical strength, as well as mind & body confidence through a balanced and personalised exercise regime. She guides and coaches her clients in finding the right mix of exercise they will enjoy and commit to in order to achieve long term results and a sense of wellbeing through phases of their life.
